Painted display cabinet
“Light colours inside the cabinet allow the grain and natural beauty of the timber to speak for itself”
When creating a piece of bespoke furniture it is important to find the best possible finish for the client’s tastes and surroundings. Natural timber is not always the perfect option. After consulting with the client and her interior designer, I decided to use a combination of Farrow and Ball paints and a natural Oak finish for the painted display cabinet.
The two paint colours contrast well with the natural Oak colour of the shelves; they also tie in well with the colours of the room. Light colours inside the cabinet allow the grain and natural beauty of the timber to speak for itself; it will also draw the eye towards the items displayed in the cabinet.
I particularly like the saw tooth shelving mounts on this design. They are versatile; allowing the shelves to be adjusted to any height, but they also add an intriguing feature to the piece. A cornice tops everything off nicely, the perfect crown to a treasured collection.
The painted display cabinet is the last of a number of bespoke pieces I have made for this client. They now have a range of quality and truly unique pieces that will last them for many years to come.
