Creating this Yorkshire rose porch was an interesting change from my usual line of work. The client approached me with the interesting idea of making 18 identical Yorkshire roses to cover the framework of the porch on their cottage. The roses had to be weatherproof, and for the look to work they had to be completely identical.

Together we settled on the idea of resin casting. This would provide the repeatability and weather resistance required. I hand carved a new Yorkshire rose to suit the size requirements of the project. This rose was used as a mould for the resin casting and then kept by the client as a memento of the project.

After casting the 18 copies were sprayed with matching paint, and fixed to the outside of the porch framework. The finished look is very pleasing to the eye and is the perfect entrance to the home of two proud Yorkshire folk.
