Both the Wave cabinet and Coffee table were constructed for a modern apartment in a converted 19th century chapel. The projects needed to be contemporary in design whilst complimenting the traditional stonework of the building.
The wave cabinet is a short sideboard with a contemporary theme. It is inspired by the concentric waves caused by an object falling into water, represented in the carved rings that surround the surface of the cabinet. The timber blends with the warm colours of the surrounding walls. The rings are stark contrasts to the straight lines of the building but still give a nod to the curves of the chapel windows. All hand carved, the rings radiate from two opposing corners of the front panel and envelop around every face of the cabinet. Handmade using North American maple, the cabinet contains only touch fittings for the door and drawers as handles would detract from it’s simplistic design.

The coffee table has an angular theme with large hand cut dovetail joints. These features are what compliment the architecture of the building and reflect the large stone blocks, whilst the walnut top contrasts with the lighter shades of the stone.
